Animals Of Jamaa

Foxes
Foxes are a members-only animal, and are also the most popular member animal so far.
They where first seen in Jamaa on July 2012, when first brought, they are a reddish raspberry color with a white underbelly, and dark brownish-pink legs.
Many nonmembers wish for foxes to be for all jammers.
Shaman/Alpha
Their Shaman is currently Amelia: 
Amelia's statue in the Mystery Emporium.
Not much is known about Amelia, but i like to imagine her being beautiful, clever, and energetic.
Here's a colored-in statue to show what she might have looked like.

Fun Facts about Foxes!
1. Foxes can run nearly 30 miles per hour!
2. Their hearing is very sensitive, they can even hear rodents running about underground.
3. Foxes are mainly nocturnal.
4. Foxes live 2 to 3 years, and up to 10 years or even longer in captivity.
5. Foxes are the only type of dog capable of retracting their claws like cats do.
Wolves
 Wolves are a nonmember land animal and are the most used animal in Jamaa so far,
When first purchased, they are blue-grey in color with a white underside.
A wide number of boys and girls use the Grey Wolf as their main animal, they are also used a lot in clans. However, Snow Leopards, Cheetahs, Lions, and tigers are also sometimes used.
Alpha/Shaman
Their current Alpha is Greely, who is seen in the adventures multiple times:

Fun Facts about Grey Wolves!
1. Grey wolves have been known to go without food for 14 days without ill effects!
2. Wolves used to be endangered, which means the animal is in danger of becoming extinct. However, a program to save the wolves took place and the wolves are happily not endangered now.
3. Grey wolves are carnivores and will eat anything like Deer, Moose, Elk or Rabbits and Beavers.
4. Grey wolves usually eat 20-30 pounds of meat in one meal.
Bunnies
 
Bunnies, or also known as Rabbits are a popular all-jammer animal, they are also the first six main animals in Jamaa.
When first brought, they a white with red-and-black eyes and a pink inner ear.
There is a game called Tunnel Town which features the bunnies of Jamaa, they are also used
for kittens in Warrior Clans.
Alpha/Shaman
There current Alpha is Peck:
Peck, the artistic rabbit Alpha.

Fun facts about Rabbits!
  
1. Rabbits are not rodents, they are small mammals instead.
2.   A rabbit can run up to 35 miles per hour.
3. A female rabbit is called a doe, and a male one is called a buck.
4. Rabbits have 28 teeth.
5. They can run up to 30 to 40 mph.
Tigers

Tigers are fairly common all-jammer animal in Jamaa.
There default appearance is orange with a creamy-white underbelly, and blue-gray stripes as shown above, they also have a special forest green color for their eyes which normally isn't on the color palate.
They are sometimes, but very rarely used for clans. the species of the AJ tiger is a Siberian Tiger. (AKA Amur tiger)

Fun Facts about Siberian Tigers!

1. They are the largest big cats in the world - they are 11 feet tall and adult males can weigh up to 320kg while females are smaller, weighing up to only 180 kg.
2. Like zebras and our fingerprints, every tiger has a differently striped pelt.
3. During the winter, their pelt looses some color to blend in with the snow.
4. A tiger's tail is 3 to 4 feet long, about half as long as its body.
5. Tigers can run very fast reaching speeds of up to 50 mph, however, they can only maintain this speed over short distances.
Kangaroos

Kangaroos are one of the few animals that can be brought at the Diamond Shop. They used to be purchased only by gift cards in New Zealand and Australia, however they can now be purchased with 10 diamonds.
There's also an app called "AJ Jump" featuring the kangaroos of Animal Jam.
Their default color is a lilac-greyish-blue pelt, a cream underside and rose-pink inner ears.
They also have a short video about them, called Kickin' it. Other animals that also have short videos featuring them are Deer, Cheetahs, eagles, polar bears and owls.

Alpha/Shaman
For a very long time, Kangaroos did not have an Alpha. However, in the 2014 AJ birthday party Boomer, the kangaroo alpha's statue was sold.

Fun Facts about Kangaroos!

1. Even though they can moonwalk on AJ, kangaroos can't walk backwards in reality.
2. Kangaroos get much of their required moisture from their diet, so they can go on without drinking water for a long time.
3. The kangaroo's family name, Macropodidae in Latin, means "big feet."
4. The Eastern Gray Kangaroo is the heaviest marsupial in the world, and the Red Kangaroo is the largest.
5. There are more kangaroos than humans in Australia.
Hyenas

Hyenas are members only land animal which can be purchased at the Diamond Shop.
Before them being released, they where given a puzzle and some clues for jammers to work out- similar to the other animals. Their default color is blue-grey with purple markings & a mane, with legs that are a darker blue. Like other Diamond Shop animals, they have their own video called "Ambushed"

Their alpha is Biff.

Fun facts about Hyenas!

1. There are four species of Hyena: spotted, brown, striped, and the aardwolf.
2. Hyenas can go for several days without water.
3. Female hyenas tend to be more muscular and larger than the males.
4. Most hyenas are nocturnal.
5. Hyenas can live to a maximum of 20-25 years!
Polar bears
 POLARBEARARTWORK  
Polar bears are a uncommon members-only animal which are sold in the diamond shop. They're the second Diamond Shop animal to be able to explore both underwater and land, after otters. Polar bears are much larger and bulkier than the other animals. The default look is pretty simple - Arctic white with a slightly darker underbelly. It was hinted to come October 23rd, 2014. When released - on November 20th, 2014 it wasn't as popular as the previous new animals, mainly because it was in the Diamond Shop.

Alpha/Shaman
Right now, polar bears do not have a Alpha, however it may be coming much later.
Fun facts!
 
1. Polar bear hairs are see-through, the reason it looks white is because of the sun reflecting off it. 
2. Another interesting fact about their color - their skin is actually black!
3. There's a polar bear/grizzly bear hybrid called a prizzly bear, or a grolar bear.
4. They have two layers of fur.
5. Polar bears have existed as a species for about 600,000 years.
Seals
Seals are a fairly common nonmember animal that can go both underwater and on land.
When they where first released, they where member - however they where soon turned nonmember a few weeks after.
Their default colors are a creamy-white pelt, a pink nose and emerald-green eyes.
It's fur and eye color aren't available on the color palate, like the secret "ice blue" color.
The species of seal on AJ is a Harp Seal.
Alpha/Shaman
Seals have an Alpha who is called Harper. Harper is not one of the main alphas and can only be seen as a statue.

Fun Facts

1. An adult harp seal weighs up to 300 - 400 pounds.
2. The life span of a harp seal is 30 years.
3. They have been known to dive 180 to 280 meters.
4. They are sometimes called Saddleback seals.


Owls
 Owls are the second flying animal to be added in Jamaa - after eagles, which where the first. 
Like the eagles, they are member and in the diamond shop. Owls are also one of the smallest animals in Jamaa, since they're about the same size as bunnies. The default colors are red with a white underbelly, despite the main color being crimson red in the artwork. They are the first animal to be released in 2015, and where hinted to come on January 8th. The species of owls on AJ is the Great Horned Owl.

Owls do not currently have an Alpha.
Fun Facts!
 
1. Owls have unique feathers for flying that make almost no noise.
2. It's a myth that they can turn their heads all the way around, however they can move their head 270 degrees.
3. Owls can catch prey using only their sense of hearing, despite heaving great eyesight.
4. Great Horned owls can live up to 13 years in the wild and 38 years in captivity.

5. Although great horned owls are large, they are not the largest. Great grey owls are.

Otters


Otters are a commonly used diamond shop animal which can go in both land and water. They are some of the smallest animals in jamaa, nearly as small as a bunny. They where first hinted to come out on July 23rd, 2014, and was officially confirmed as the new animal on August 8th, 2014. Many jammers where angry that otters where sold in the diamond shop, however despite this, you will still see them being used around Jamaa. Their default color is dark brown with a paler, lighter brown underside, with black eyes and small white whiskers. They are probably sea otters since they can swim in the saltwater oceans in AJ.
Alpha/Shaman

Like some of the older diamond shop animals, otters do have an Alpha called Hudson. He is a short, muscular otter with thick whiskers and a tight collar around his neck.


Otters have a video featuring them, called "Otterly Fun."

1. The sea otter is the heaviest member of the weasel family.
2. Sea otters can eat sea urchins.
3. They can dive as deep as 330 feet.
4. Sea otters have the thickest fur of any mammal.
5. They can live their entire lives without leaving water.

  5. I'm not a fan of the tigers on AJ, but I love the foxes ^w^.
    But I love tigers in real life. GO WILDCATS! :D
    I always donate to the tigers in the Museum in Appondale.
